friends in the desert

Two years ago, I made it a goal of mine to develop a support group of photographers in the Boulder County area. I wasn’t really sure how I was going to accomplish it. There seemed to be a large contingent of Denver area photographers who met regularly but unfortunately it wasn’t convenient or practical for me to get to Denver with any regularity.

Six months later, I saw a post in the Colorado photographers group on Facebook from Molly looking to see who was in the Boulder area. She and I and another photographer met for drinks one night and shortly after we started our own FB group for Boulder County Photographers. Now there are over 60 people in the group and those that can make it meet at a cafe in Louisville on a monthly basis. There’s usually just a handful of us and it tends to be the same group that comes each time with a few that come less regularly.

The “regulars” – all women – mean so much to me and have helped me to grow as a person, a photographer and a business-owner. I feel blessed to call them my dear friends.

A couple weeks ago, I left on a roadtrip with three of these special people, Molly, Kelsey, and Heather. We headed to Las Vegas for the annual WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) conference. It was my first time going and it was phenomenal… in no small part because of the company I was with. At the end of the conference, when we were back on the road to come home, we stopped just outside of Las Vegas to do our own little photo shoot of each other. We didn’t take any photos of Kelsey because she was having horrible allergy issues (poor girl! except for the photo shoot she slept almost the entire way home) but below are some of my favorites that I took of Molly and Heather.

Thanks for being my partners in crime and my fashion consultants! :)

Love you ladies!
